Sevier County’s Oldest Business Starts 100th Year 

Sevier County Bank Chairman Ross Summitt announced the election of the above eight Directors who are charged with leading the bank as it enters its 100th consecutive year of service to the community: William S “Bill” Brown, Richard Isenberg, Lyle Overbay, Ross Summitt, James A. Temple, Jr., Joe Jim Summitt, A. Zachary Wade and R. B. Summitt II. “Our Directors bring a broad range of people and financial skills, traditional and creative experiences along with public and private accomplishments that will provide our Bank the leadership necessary to guide Sevier County’s oldest and longest standing financial institution. Like previous Directors who have served Sevier County Bank, our Board is focused on competing for customers, continuing our traditional quality services while adding new technologies to improve our state-of-the-art financial services.”

In their first meeting of 2008, the Directors voted to issue a $50 per share cash dividend to all Sevier County Bank shareholders, a 4.2% increase of $2 per share over 2007. R.B. Summit II noted, “We believe in giving back to our shareholders and recognizing their crucial role in the growth of our bank over the past 100 years. Sevier County Bank initially issued stock in March of 1909 for $100 a share. No new stock has ever been issued. It is exciting to realize that one dividend check today would pay half of the cost of an original share. None of these years of growth and accomplishments would have occurred without our many, many wonderful customers and our Sevier County Bankers, especially our current team. We are proud yet humbled by our customers continued support and the referrals they provide to the many new comers to Sevier County. Both thanks to them and for them, we have many exciting plans for our next century of service.
